Chapter History

The University of Alabama believes in excellence and strives to provide the best environment possible for guiding our Golden Key members to achieve in academics, leadership and service. The 37th Golden Key chapter, The University of Alabama was chartered April 20th, 1983, as part of U.S. Region 3, which includes schools in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands.

With more than 11,500 members since 1983, The University of Alabama Golden Key chapter is a large one, and our members have gone on to do great things in their lives. Honorary members include Mayor Walter Maddox; Thomas Strong, Dean of Students; and Marion Pearson, Manager of UA Museums. Our chapter is also very focused on service; members perform an average of 300 hours annually, and we’ve maintained a Gold Standing for exemplary community outreach. We welcome prospective members sophomore year through graduate school who are in the top 15% of their class and interested in service and leadership development.
